Last time I talked with Lemuel Ellington he informed me that we have 9 men signed up for Lookout Mountain. Our goal is to hit 25. I know that we are all being pulled in different directions to register now from events. For us it is a little different. If you have never put on a NPS living history before the big difference is that they would like to have a solid number that is coming. Add to it limited parking and you have an ever greater need to have people register. I am not going to"bully" offer pies or anything else. The only thing that we can offer is a great weekend with good friends and a chance to mark off one more battlefield that you can tell your kids that you have slept on. Lets get signed up so that I can worry about our event and not IF we will have enough for a event. Holler

Pards, most of you who were a part of The Grand Adventure at the 150th Shiloh, the 150th Vicksburg and Kennesaw Mountain living histories, and the 10th Iowa effort at the 150th Bentonville, will have heard (and hopefully joined in) the Hairy Nation battle cry of "Big pig little pig- ROOT HOG OR DIE."

Our living history at Lookout Mountain is specifically to commemorate the men that were the inspiration for that cry. Exactly how- you'll have to come to the event to hear the story :)

Coincidentally, the ad-hoc force (comprised of one division each from the Army of the Cumberland, the Army of the Tennessee, and the Army of the Potomac) that fought at Lookout also gave rise to the legendary story of the 15th Corps' badge.

If you've participated in a NPS living history before, then you've probably got a good idea what to expect. We are adding a little first-person wrinkle to our interactions amongst ourselves that I think will be unlike anything you've done before. Nothing revolutionary, mind you, but I think it will make for a unique experience.

As Holler mentioned above, we are planning an evening hike on the mountain that should provide some insight to what it was like to scale Lookout on that black November night in 1863.

So, consider registering before the 16 remaining slots are gone. To quote a certain long-ago scoundrel, "you truly belong with us above the clouds."

Due to a great response and a recent flood of registrants, our registration cap has been extended to 30. It will not be extended again. Once we hit that number, I will start a waiting list - in the event that fellers drop out and slots open up. It is NOT too late to register, so if you are on the fence - now is the time!

Gents, we are nearing the close of registration for Lookout Mountain. If you are wanting to attend, you have until May 29 to register AND pay - or otherwise make prior arrangements with Nathan Hellwig and/or myself. Anyone listed below that has not paid by May 29 will be removed from the registration list. After May 29, we will only allow substitutions for gents that have already registered but can no longer make it. Looking forward to seeing you all next month!
