7th Texas at Raymond - May 17-19, 2019

Friends,

This post will currently serve as a placeholder for the Trans-Miss Hellcats' first major living history since coming back on the scene: "They Didn't Scare Worth a Cent" -- 7th Texas @ Raymond.

The idea for this effort is to recreate the 7th Texas Infantry as they appeared during the Vicksburg Campaign and at the Battle of Raymond. This effort will be on the original ground on the original dates.

Saturday (5/11) will be used to recreate Gregg's advance on to the battlefield at Raymond and consisted of drill and basic daily life of a Confederate regiment on campaign. For Sunday (5/12), we will recreate the attack made by Granburys' Texans against McPherson's Federal troops in real time.

We are still diligently researching every aspect that we can of the 7th. If you have any interest in a company command for this effort, please comment below or drop me a P.M. on Facebook. Thanks!

Friends!

As of right now, we are diligently working on several components to this effort to better each participants' experience: a march route to the site following the route the regiment took, wagons, etc.

Seven individuals have already offered to raise companies for this effort and are as follows:

We will have more details on the regiment over the next few weeks. Also, please consider the recommended readings on our Facebook page. Friends,

After due consideration and much thought, we have come to an agreement with the Friends of Raymond to move this living history event back to the weekend of May 17-19, 2019.

We believe this will not only benefit our efforts, but will also benefit the Raymond battlefield with more spectators that are the major source of donations keeping the site in it's prestine condition.

We hope this will be an excitable announcement for those that were struggling with their attendance and we look forward to seeing you all at Raymond.
