    Re: Gettysburg Photo Mystery Solved?

It would be interesting to locate the QM records of the 121st New York to see if they were indeed wearing uniform coats during the Gettysburg campaign. I had read previously that these casualties were tentatively identified as men of the 5th New Jersey, Third Corps, who fell on or about the Sherfy property, due in part to QM records.

Brian's referring to Earl Coates' article in the July 1990 Gettysburg magazine, which I had thought had put to rest the location of the images. While I would like to hear Scott's thoughts on the Coates article I am inclined to believe this latest assessment because of Scott's familiarity with the field and the new perspective gained from the recent deforestation.

I know one thing for sure, next time I'm in the area I will bring my Frassanito and visit this portion of the field!

I had to go back and take a look, I think the 5th NJ spot is a better one, and its well know that he was in the area to make photos then also
