  • "Colonels in Blue"

One of the holiday gifts I received was an excellent reference resource: Roger Hunt's Colonels in Blue: New York. I spent much of Monday (1/01) evening perusing it and believe it to be a great resource that helps to expand my library of similar reference works such as:
    • Generals in Gray, by Ezra Warner (1959)
    • More Generals in Gray, by Bruce Allardice (2006)
    • Staff Officers in Gray: Biographical Register of Staff Officers of the Army of Northern Virginia, by Robert E.L. Krick (2003)
    • Generals in Blue, by Ezra Warner (1964)
    • Brevet Brigadier Generals in Blue, by Roger Hunt (1998)
    • Colonels in Blue: New England, by Roger Hunt (2001)
    • Colonels in Blue: New York, by Roger Hunt (2003)

In particular, Hunt's two "Colonels" books have some great photos (sometimes more than one photo of certain individuals) and represent some great research, particularly on some obscure individuals.

If you can lay your hands on one or more of the books listed above and you're into any type of historical research, they are excellent references.
