Good Afternoon,
Vicksburg National Military Park is now accepting resumes for the seasonal living history program as well as a limited number of Green and Gray interpretive slots for the 2010 summer season.
We are seeking a few good people with living history and public speaking experience. Your duties will be to oversee the daily artillery and rifle demonstrations, give hourly speeches, maintain black powder records, and supervise ten to twenty teenage volunteers. It is an immensely rewarding job that requires hard work, punctuality, and the ability to address large crowds. While we usually do not do first person costumed interp on a daily basis, there may be opportunities for it at different points during the summer in the museum. FYI, these positions are not confined to just male applicants, female applicants with in depth knowledge of women's dress and culture are very much encouraged to submit a resume.
If you think you have what it takes, send your resume to ranger Tim Kavanaugh at tim_kavanaugh@nps.gov
If you would like a seasonal position wearing the Green and Gray, your duties will consist of visitor center operations such as printing pamphlets, giving frequent speeches, opening and closing the facilities, giving walking tours, and orienting visitors to the park. Public speaking skills and work ethic are a must. Experience with graphic design, word processing, or historical research are a plus. Again, send your resume to Tim Kavanaugh if interested.
Applicants must be enrolled in college full time for the Fall 2010 semester and able to pass a background check in order to be eligible for the job. No hires can be made without proof of enrollment.
We look forward to hearing from you!
