  • Park Day March 27, 2004

I hope it's not too early to post this, but I thought some may want to keep this weekend open on their calenders. March 27 is park day. Volunteers will be out that day to help restore and clean up Civil War battlefields, parks and sites.

Please visit the Civil War Preservation Trust's website for a listing of participating parks and sites.

Park Day 2004: Honor the Past...Preserve for the Future
    March 27, 2004

"Civil War Preservation Trust members will turn out in droves to give some hands-on help to their favorite Civil War sites this March. In the past, preservation projects have included painting signs or cannon carriages, reinstalling headstones, laying trails, sweeping leaves, or hauling trash out of a stream. With the lean budgets our sites have for maintenance, every helping hand means significant financial and personnel savings for parks. And, at each site, volunteers will hear historians tell them about the land they are helping to preserve. Please plan to join us Saturday, March 27 at a site near you for a day of history, hard work, and hands-on preservation fun!"
