  • Submit Your Image for the March Cover of the AC

    Greetings AC Members!

It is time to start our search for the March 2018 Cover of the Authentic Campaigner! Please submit your image in this thread. We are looking for five images that best-exemplify the look of the authentic living historian. Images taken with period technology only are required (wet plate, pencil drawing, field sketches, etc.)

    SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

    1) Images that have previously been on the cover are not eligible.

    2) We will accept the first five images in this thread only. Posts on social media will not be accepted. The thread will be closed after the fifth image is submitted, and any images submitted after the fifth will be deleted from the thread.

    3) Once we have five images, they will be put up for a general vote to the membership of the forum. The winning image will be placed on the front "cover" of the web site for one month.

    4) Make sure and attach the photo to your post. If necessary, we will crop the photo for the best fit.

    5) The Moderators/Administrators reserve the right to remove any submissions that they feel don't meet the standards of the Authentic Campaigner.

Now, let's see your best images!

Re: Submit Your Image for the March Cover of the AC

          Good Morning!

After careful consideration, we are going to end the monthly cover contest. We have just not received the volume of images needed to do this right, and frankly it has become a bit of a grind to do this every month.

I have decided to use the image submitted by Jason Krausz for the cover for now. It is an excellent image and the colorized version really makes the front page pop. Todd and Andrew - I will be working your images into our social media blasts, so they will not be ignored.

I appreciate everyone who has submitted images for the monthly contest. By all means, if you have an image of you and your comrades, feel free to send it to me at etinohio@msn.com. I may still ask from time-to-time for new ones, but for now, we will go with the 36th Illinois and change it up between living historian images and originals.

If anyone has other ideas for the cover, I am all ears.

Thanks for doing this Eric. It's been a great run over the years. Perhaps, I may steal an idea out of Ron Coddington's book, which is to submit an actual wartime image with biographical information, and a short story for the cover. Or even artifact of the month with story?

I'm on FB timeout at the moment for a couple more days, so I'll make something up and send it your way via email.
