There they are! Those are actually ones I took of the Daniels jacket.

Bryant, good call. This is one of the better posts that I've seen here recently. So it has its own thread now.

Here are some pictures of the Childs Atlanta Depot kit. There are some folks who were interested in how closely his fabric resembled the original Lyon Jacket. This jacket has never been worn in the field. I can imagine, after you lose some of the nap, it would match fairly closely. Note: the only difference between Childs' Charleston and Atlanta kits are the addition of the belt loops.

Re: The Atlanta Depot Jacket... What exactly is it?

This has been an interesting thread to follow, as I had at least 2 ancestors who served in and around Charleston. At this point, is it known when the Charleston Depot began issuing uniform items and is there any evidence or conjecture as to when the Depot jacket was first issued?

Here is a link to Jenson's descriptions of the Charleston Depot. This may help your search as it alludes to speculative dates.

Considering the large amount of info that has come to light on the Tait jackets and "Columbus Depot" jackets since Jensen's ground-breaking articles, I would imagine quite a lot has been updated on the "Charleston" and other jackets as well.

Soooo, now that it's been a decade, has any new light, pics, thoughts or research been shed on the "Atlanta" Depot jacket. It's construction and possible/probable connections to Charleston? Plan to make one of these in the near future out of Ben Tart's Atlanta Depot fabric. Going to visit the Midway Museum tomorrow and take what pics I can through the glass of the one on display there. Figured it was better to revive a good old thread instead of starting a new one.
