Now would these coats have had Wisconsin state buttons on them?

Will, from looking at images where the buttons can be clearly seen, they are clearly three piece buttons with the state seal of Wisconsin on them. Non-dug specimens exist, but none of the coats are known to have survived. The buttons occassional show up in campsites occupied by these early Wisconsin regiments.

I'll have to look and see if any of the early Wisconsin Regiments were known to be around the Water Valley area during Central MS Railraod Campaign.
