Re: Fort Moultrie LH Dec. 12-14, 2008

Or is this a concession being made so that folks don't have to go out and buy a very expensive specialty item?

If you have the artillery frock you can wear that, we only have around 8 Federals at this point. Also well made SA fatigue coats or 11 button jackets will work as well. We are mainly avoiding the "contract" look, where uniforms were quickly made. The same standard will be applied to 1858-61.

That sucks... we were looking forward for to spectate this one.

I guess we will go and check out Ft. McAllister instead..never been to that event.

I take it there is a contingent of authentics going so it will be worth trip up.

              Notes on headgear!

You may only have a month, but if you want to be the REALLY cool kid, take a M1854 Shako, strip the brass and pom-pom off, and rip the stiffening out!

None of us want to be the "cool kid", we are trying to portray history as accurately as we can.

I will be at Fort McAllister for Friday- Sunday.

                  Thanks
