off topic question: I am meeting people at bummers. Are we to take any of our own food? Anyone know, I haven't seen anything.

I am not sure what the rules for civilians and militia are but for federals it is a flat haversack event...there will be foraging a plenty and you will not go hungry.

I make it a habit to bring a small amount of coffee (I eat the beans if I can't brew it) and dried fruit, etc. to every event just in case I don't get the ability to prepare a proper meal by the fire. You know, something to eat while on the run that requires little preparation. I like being somewhat self-sufficient/prepared for all possible scenarios at events- that way I can concentrate on movement and physical tasks at hand.

Rules of thumb for any soldier in any time period: Lighten the load like crazy, keep your weapon/ammo in working order, 'water-resistant' yourself as well as you can, drink plenty of water, get your alotted amount of rest, and keep some small amount of ready-prepared food in reserve. Too easy.

From what I'm hearing, there will be plenty of forage to go around at Bummers...

...You just have to get to it first.

Oh. Bob Hutton- PM sent... great, we can share a ride to/from the event from Atlanta airport. I'll rent a vehicle so we can move to and from Molena quickly.

Johnnie/Bob- any chance of me carpooling with you boys to and from the airport? I still havent gotten the plane tickets yet, there is still plenty left, but I believe I can make a landing bout 11ish if I recall correctly. And Sunday take off would be bout 5ish, again if I recall correctly. If that works for both of you, count me in.

Although I dont think I met you boys personally, I was under arms with you both at this last winter 64 event in Newfane. Vesuuuuvius- God rest her soul!

Johnny,

Isn't it cheating to bring food of any sort? You are cheating yourself of the experience of needing to know where your next meal is coming from. You are cheating your fellow soldiers by having an advantage over them and not suffering with them.

Besides, the last thing you need is to be eating coffee beans. It makes me tired just watching you sleep!

Sorry, I should have clarified that. I was just meaning to not bring your own rations, is what I've heard. Assuming folks in the militia knew they would be issued rations.
