  • The Attempted Murder of Preacher Unkle Beau

We are still working on some details but the date will be May 14-16, 1866(2010)

All the men of the 21st have returned from the war(their enlistments ran out in 1866) only to find that their pard Hog is going to stand trial for attempted murder in Grey Summit.

Look for updates in the coming year. All those who attended last weekend are invited along with new people.

    This event is not over...

Looks like there's already a lot of excitement building up about this event. Holler and his men will most likely be staying at the Van Bibber site again, while others will be coming into the village as residents, tradesmen, and farmers.

We will need lawyers, witnesses, and jurors. Hog's trial won't be the only one going on, of course. Since this is a circuit court session, there will also be civil suits as well.

We already have a bunch of excellent folks lined up for the main roles:

Mike Comer has been appointed Judge
Charles Hoskins will serve as Prosecutor
"Hog" Cravens will be the Defendant
    Dave Gerow as Defense Attorney
    George Hall as Clerk
Patrick McAllister as Sheriff of Gray Summit
Jason Huether will serve as attorney for one of the civil suits
    Mike Kupsch as Telegrapher

Just a reminder this is not going to be a bang bang so leave the weapons at home.

This one looks like a good way to spend my birthday. (near enough) 2010's date is on my calendar. You know I have to come across the Mississippi (West) at least ONCE a year.

          HAHA....

Seriously, I hope I can be there. Perryville is the weekend before and I will be logging miles for that one.

Judge Cromer will be honest and see that Hog gets a fair trial. I'll make sure to bring a good stong Hemp rope.
Sheriff Patrick you're going to have your hands full. There were still a lot of old scores being settle in Missouri in May of 1865, the fine citizens of Gray Summit have several. You federals and bushwhackers better have a lot of pards come back with you and not walk the streets alone at night.

Us Bushwhackers handled the town once and I'm sure that we could handle it again if you try to go after Preacher Tom.

I wanted to clarify the name of the Clerk. That's Eric Fair, who will be clerking for the Judge.

Andy A., who is George Hall, will be clerking for the defense attorney.

                  Carl Anderton will be Bailiff.

We also have a few other people signed up for other roles; Chris Irelan will be Innkeeper's Assistant, which should please Terry, and Bob Welch will be a local farmer.

In the interest of justice, I will have to recuse myself from Mr. "Hog's" trial but will be available to be a witness. If I was the sitting judge, the trial would take about 30 seconds. :baring_te

I will be on the bench as judge for the other civil suits that are brought up though.

We have a basic, bare-bones event web site up now. Here is where you'll find links to registration forms & guidelines.

Because this is purely a civilian event, all registration is being handled by the regular civilian organizers. Therefore, interested participants should join the Boonesfield village yahoo list. This is where we'll be discussing all the details, impressions, etc.

                              Thank you!
