  • Nominate 2010 Event Folders

    Hello Everyone:

Well, we are almost halfway through 2009. The event folders are set and other events are scheduled. So, let's take some time to think about what we are going to do in 2010.

The process we have set up allows a nomination and voting process - see thread here. We will use this same process for 2010.

What we would like to do is have a discussion here and figure out which 5-6 events should be considered "Max Effort EBUFU's" for 2010. To do this, simply nominate an event that you have seen discussed in this 2010 EBUFU Event Folder. We would like to hear from the people organizing the event to "make their case" about why it should be considered a "Max Effort EBUFU" Event.

We will compile several of these event for discussion in the AC Focus Group to determine which events will get their own folder. Just remember that we will have a maximum of six events with their own folder.

Also keep in mind that we are looking for interesting scenarios, ideally spread out in different geographic locations. We also want to make sure that we spread out the dates, so these events do not conflict with each other. It would be nice to mix in different types of events - i.e. Living Histories, Battle Scenarios, Tacticals, Preservation Marches, etc.

I will check back on this discussion frequently to keep the compiled list. Once we have enough nominations, we will discuss which ones should have a folder for 2010 in the AC Focus Group.

Thanks for your participation and let's see some nominations for 2010 Max Effort EBUFU Events.

All right. I'm going to get this started. I nominate the March 2010 LBL event announced in this thread:

      Second that nomination :)

Eric, this a good format (member nominating and voting). Might be tougher, but it is certainly more transparent and more fair.

For the purposes of deconfliction, shouldn't nominated events have a set date?

                Backwaters, 1865. March 12-14, 2010.

This is the event sponsored by the Independence Mess, and will take place at the Land Between The Lakes site.
                -------------------------------------------

Struggles of Secession - Westville, GA 1863, October 20-24th, 2010.

This is the event at Westville, Ga.
                ------------------------------------------

WIG & SCAR Outpost Style event. Date unknown, but tentatively late Sept. early Oct.
-This event certainly rates being in the 2010 event folder, but with no hard date, and it's potential to get too close to the Westville event, (and I hate to say it) but I'm hesitant to push for this one without solid dates.
