      Re: 150th Perryville

      All,
Had a great meeting last week with the park folks. All is going well. Registration should go live on July 1 or shortly after that. The registration price is reduced if you get in before January 1, 2012. All the participant standards are up at www.perryvillebattlefield.org
The preservation march/tactical routes are all done and everything as far as the event is laid out. Please give it a look. This is an extremely rare opportunity for those of you who have been at Perryville - the preservation march route comes into the battlefield from private property. This is the first time that this has been done as the majority of this property is in private hands. This may be your only chance to actually come into Perryville on the actual routes used by the armies. If it is not up on the website yet it will be before the week is over. We secured over 1300 acres for the event. All your money goes to preservation at the park, which has grown to nearly 800 acres plus (we are waiting on some good announcements from CWPT.)
I'm very excited about this event - it simply will be on of the best for 2012.
Come help commemorate Perryville's 150th. The men who fought their do not just deserve our rememberance. They earned it.

Just a reminder that registration for this event is OPEN. We already have registrations coming in which is fantastic. The fee is $12.00 until the end of the year. The price will increase at the first of the year. We want to let you know that 100% of your registration fees will go directly to the parks preservation efforts. If you have any questions concerning registration for this event, please contact me and I will answer any questions you may have. Thanks.

In order to work on my 2012 kitchen passes, is Perryville going to be the other major East/West AC supported event, on the same level as Shiloh?

              Huck,

No, it's not going to be supported on the scale of what we just did. There are good campaign battalions being formed for Perryville on both sides but will just be smaller. The same groups that you were with in Manassas agreed to do one large effort per year due to the work to make it come off well. The 2012 effort is Shiloh, but Perryville will be attended by some of the guys you were just with. There will likely be a folder for Perryville here on the AC soon. Hope that helps.

Thanks Matt, I was under the impression that there was going to be two per year, supported AC events, one east and one west. Im going to Perryville anyway, it is a great event. I just need to start on the wife/honey backside kissing up to do two or three major road trip events .

Now just begs the question, do I go mounted or Inf..........

Huck, as of right now we have two federal campaign battalions being formed. The Western Federal Blues will be fielding one and the other headed up by the SCAR and other groups from the south. Both groups have their own registrations. The Blues on their site www.westernfederalblues.org and SCARS on another http://24thillinoisperryville150th.webs.com/.

The preservation march will be a treat to many. Both armies will be walking on the original routes the boys of '62 took. Some of the land we will be using has never been used before ever! Yes, new land the park has gained access to. So, it will be a neat experience to venture across new hills and fields. Remember, the preservation march will be on that Friday. We are asking everyone who wants to take part in the march to be on site by Thursday evening if possible. That night you will be shutteled out a couple of miles away to your starting point. Pretty much the event will go LIVE sometime Thursday evening.

                      Huck,

"AC supported" and "supported by the groups that did Manassas" are two different things. I was referring to the groups that just did the 2nd Mississippi at Manassas.

                          Re: 150th Perryville

Huck we are glad to have you hang your hat with the Blues. Registration for Perryville is open now and half price. Go to their website at www.perryvillebattlefield.org and follow the registration information. Just indicate your falling in with the Blues on that form. I see Micah has already responded to you so once you get registered get on the Blues Facebook page and forum so you can keep in the loop - Micah can add you on all of that.
The preservation march and tactical is going to be something to remember. The best thing about Perryville is that all of your preservation money goes directly to the park for preservation and interpretation.
Happy to have you on board!

Just a couple of minor corrections in regards to the 24th Illinois Battalion at Perryville. First, it is a combined effort of groups...Armory Guards, Independent Rifles, Trans-Miss, Hairy Nation, 48th NY an Eastern company and SCAR (one addtional company may also be addede). For the 24th Illinois Battalion, you will need to register thru our website at http://24thillinoisperryville150th.webs.com/ as our registration covers the registration fee, rations and a donation to the 'Friends of Perryville'. As Micah has pointed out, the early fee ends at the end of Dec. We also plan to take part in the preservation march and tactical.

                            Thanks,
                            Jim Butler

                                All,
If you are going on the preservation march/tactical please make sure you indicate that on the registration form that the park has on the website. That is essential so that we know how many to expect. This will be a very interesting aspect to the event. The sites that both armies will start out at is remote and we will need to have an idea of who is actually going. You will be met with guides in the staging areas and then marched to the remote site. This is the first time in 150 years that these routes have been used by military forces moving toward the battlefield at Perryville. Get your legs up underneath you and lets make this one of the finest soldier experience in reenacting.
It is going to be a once in a lifetime opportunity so don't miss it.
