  • 150th Vicksburg Living History- Hosted By the Independent Rifles

Is there a progressive/ Authentic living history planned to take place at theVicksburg NMP in 2013?? I would love to do something down there and quite frankly it would give US northern men a chance/ excuse to get down to Vicksburg . I have heard that there will be a reenactment event this fall .

Re: Vicksburg LH Spring of 2013

Rod, I'm working on getting my information together before talking with the NPS. Had some personal things pop up, but I have talked with them roughly about the May time frame. Not going to do June again, as "Life on the Line" was a bit hot. Just a bit.

150th Vicksburg Living History- Hosted By the Independent Rifles

I'm waiting on word back from my contact at Vicksburg, but I wanted to go ahead and let everyone know there are plans in the works for the 150th program. This will be an event covering all three sides of the Vicksburg story- US, CS and civilian. What I'm looking at is a multi stop program showing individual states involvement in the campaign and siege. I have already had requests for Missouri (CS) Georgia, Iowa and a few others. If something like this peaks your interest, let me know via PM or email.

The park has undergone some wonderful changes since the last event there in 07 and I would like nothing more than to have everyone out for this. Each area needs to have a minimum of 10 people to have your own program.

          Pat,

When are you planning on doing this and do you want artillery?

                  Pat,

When you schedule this, keep it off a drill weekend which are usually the first weekend of the month. Makes it easier for us Guard and Reserve guys to attend. Depending on the date I will hope to bring a crew. Let me know off line when you plan on holding this. Thaks.

Is there a tentative date we should be looking at?

Just chill until Landrum gets more info from the park. Consider his post as a gauging of interest. With the number of views over such a short period of time, interest seems to be there.
