    RAISING COMPANIES:

If you wish to raise a Confederate Company, please contact Walter Cook at franklinpcleburne@gmail.com.

WHERE: We have secured approximately 600 acres of private land, about six miles south of Chickamauga. Lookout Mountain is visible from portions of the site. Proximity to the original site was one of our criteria so participants can visit the original Missionary Ridge, Lookout Mountain, Chickamauga and all of the other historical amenities in the area.

      Don:

Give us a little time and we will see what we can do about Bully Buys, etc. Would be a good time for the Ohio Haversack, wouldn't it?

Regarding the condition of uniforms, consider this from a letter home by a participant :

"Camp 13 miles North-East of Knoxville, Tennessee,
        December 24, 1863.

"When we left Chattanooga the men wre greatly in need of Clothing and shoes, and a march of one hundred and fifty miles, has left a great many almost barefooted. Since we came up here we have drawn pants and shoes enough to make the men comfortable. The weather is very cold.

"We are in the mountains, have foraged for a living since leaving Chattanooga. Supplies are now beginning to reach us. [ ]

"To-morrow will be Christmas and our "cook" has three "Turkeys" and 4 "Chickens" for the occasion, provided a certain Mr Longstreet behaves himself, and don't be the means of calling us out. I am nearly "Friz." It is time for the mail to go out and I will close hoping these few lines &c. excuse all mistakes, I have no pen and ink, this is written on my knee in the cold, by the side of a smoky fire.

        "Respectfully Yours,

        "P." of Co. D, the 15th Ohio.
Source, The Wyandot Pioneer (Upper Sandusky, Ohio), 15 January 1864, page second, column third. Link : https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/l...arRange&page=1

Note, the 15th Ohio was in Willich's first brigade of Wood's third division of the Fourth Corps. The event's chosen impression is the 64th Ohio of Opdycke's demi-brigade, Harker's third brigade, Sheridan's second division.

After Missionary Ridge, Wood's and Sheridan's divisions were sent to Knoxville to assist Burnside who had been besieged by Longstreet.
