    thanks,
Good question, Joe. According to the stats here, there are more than 3,000 members, so the cost might come to considerably less:

Authentic Campaigner Website & Forums Statistics

    Threads: 36,059 Posts: 234,526 Members: 9,680 Active Members: 3,039

I also counted more than a dozen "Approved Vendors" who ostensibly contribute $100 each for the privilege.

I wouldn't mind contributing, but I guess I'd like to know how much they need.

One of the issues I see with the software is that when ever I post it posts a duplicate message.

    Andy,

The software was upgraded over the weekend and it has cause a few problems that are being worked on. Once completed you should be able to see the For Sale area as before. The only restriction we had in that section and plan to have in the future is that you have to have an active subscription to start a thread there.

    Andy,

If it is a choice between paying to view goods for sale or there not being a site for people to see those goods at all does it really matter if sales are limited a bit? Perhaps that will cause some to subscribe.

I did not intend to call you out or sound chippy so please don't take it that way.

One of the problems I have been trying to clean up on the site are accounts that allow people to sell in the For Sale folder without being paid members of the forum. Friday that problem was corrected.

Member subscriptions are the biggest source of revenue for paying the bills here.

    Re: Pending Forum Closure

I am 57 yrs old and will complete my 1st year of reenacting, with the 5th NHVI, in March. I haven't participated much at all on the forum because although I've been reading military history for many years, I don't have the deep Civil War knowledge of many of you veterans. I've participated in several forums over the years and have learned how to do productive searches to answer many of my questions.

I like the idea of a Unit donation and could broach the subject at our annual meeting in Jan. The site is on our recommendation listing.
Otherwise, I may consider paying a fee, though my use of the site is negligible and funds are limited. I did make it through the B&G Gettysburg 150th event with Murray's Brigade, but at my age, participation in events will be mostly limited to regional Living History.

PS: This is a slight thread topic deviation but may be related to it. I have been on the site lately because I am all over the WEB trying to find an authentic repro gum blanket / poncho and have been unsuccessful to date. I have searched here and checked vendors list. There are a few out there but I can see by the costs that they probably wouldn't meet my Unit's standards. I plan to post a query where applicable but if any here have a tip please PM me.

    YOHS,

    Steve Morin

I agree. A $12 dollar a year membership that gave you access to the entire site sounds fair. You don't pay, you don't access the database......you don't buy, sell, etc. My Membership expired a few weeks ago. I'd be happy to pay again, or opt for a $12 deal. Will wait to see if it closes down first. Don't want to lose my money like I did a few years ago on that Campaigners online magazine. The threat of closing it down can cut both ways as far as membership fees go

Peter, I see your point. The site has suffered a bit as of late. But not all of us can go to the events you're attending. I'm in Australia right now, doing the type of events that we CAN do here. Hope you see me at see me at some in the next year or 2 though!!

Signed up for a 2 Year Membership. I don't know why we all can't pay 12 per year for membership, this wouldn't even be an issue then.
