Re: Your favorite hat
Mine would have to be my clearwater plantation hat, it just has a great look to it that words can't explain.

Re: Your favorite hat
I have one of the first hats Tim Binder made. Copied off the Original in The Wisconsin Vet's Museum. A Hardee Hat ID to the Iron Brigade. I turned it into a "one story afaire":)

Re: Your favorite hat
After ten years of battering it around in the field, my Tim Allen "Frank " style slouch hat gets the nod. I'm also extremely fond of a kepi based upon those issued from the Shreveport Depot given to me by a dear pard. The talented hands of Fenny at The Richmond Depot was responsible for that outstanding piece of work.

Re: Your favorite hat
I'd have to say my "chick magnet" hat I bought off these very forums made by Tim Bender.
I have a bit of a punkin' head, and not just any hat works, heh. ;)

I love my logwood jean kepi from the Richmond Depot! Very comfortable, cool when it's hot, warm when it's cool!

Re: Your favorite hat
Hi,
My favorite hat would have to be my tan Dirty Billy hat (the hat I am wearing in my picture) that I just bought about a month ago. My second favorite would have to be my Dirty Billy Confederate issue kepi, made out of a tan/grey jean, with a oil cloth brim.

Re: Your favorite hat
I own probably 10-15 different hats, but I love my Starbuck kepi in the Arkansas pattern, with the homespun lining and leather sweatband, brown leather bill and flase chin strap with brass coin buttons....sigh...I love my hat.

Re: Your favorite hat
Hello All. My favorite hat is a black wool mechanic's cap that I made myself. It is entirely hand sewn. It is comfortable, warm, and really authentic.

My Hats
My Bender Pork Pie is my favorite hat. When placed upon the top of my head with an appropriate amount of "attitude", I feel it compliments me nicely. My wife, on the other hand, who is not a reenactor, nor has any understanding about mid-1800's fashion says it makes me look dumb. What does she know?
I also have a Bender uniform hat that I have tried to keep as clean as possible. I was involved with an evening public tour and was writing a letter by candle-light. I wasn't paying attention to my hat until all of the wax had dripped onto it. That was about four years ago, and I still haven't been able to get the wax out. I suppose it has been "aged", but it still frustrates me.

Re: Your favorite hat
Toss-up. I really like my Clearwater I picked up early this year--coffee-colored farmer beehive that I worked around on with a tea-kettle and got looking the way I like. But at the same time I miss my Joe Blunt kepi.

Re: Your favorite hat
Hey Curt I have one of those too. [ Posting #41] It is the desert version. I do in fact wear it......you ought to see the strange looks that I get and the most famous question of " Where did you get that hat?"
